I always thought that life was sweeter in the mornings. That is the time when the world is quiet and the birds are chirping, the morning dew still wet and fresh on the grass soaking in the clean air. No fights have broken out yet, the newspaper remains folded over with its secrets of war and scandal still hidden, having yet to brake open and pierce the morning peace. Mornings are when anything is possible. The world is your oyster! Carpe Diem. Dance naked in the rain! Stand up to the Man. Paint the town red – or neon green for that matter. Everyone else is asleep and the world is yours for the taking.
However, sometimes it still takes a new perspective to fully appreciate your day’s potential. Nothing can really beat waking from an Advil PM induced coma up in the midst of a 14 hour bus ride in the middle of Laos at 5 in the morning to find yourself riding on top of the world. With the sun rising on one side and the moon still shining in full on the other, the world was mine for the taking.
